Past Time Adventures
The final project for my undergrad program was a kid-themed, AR game and we worked on this project for 5 months. This is one of the highlights of my work!
Topic & Role
Highlights of the project: Educational, Adventure, AR

Past Time Adventures - Trailer
Past Time Adventures is a 3D educational game, where players assume the role of Harry, a school going kid, and go around fixing the inventions gone wrong using the Time modular unit. They travel back in time, meet the inventors and complete quests. The final invention is assembled in AR.

Research
The project was supposed to be kid's themed, and by keeping this in mind, our team decided to develop this project with both an educational and entertainment take. Our team were all a bunch of science lovers and having kid's learn about inventions seemed best fit.
We selected four interesting invetions that were relatable to kids - Invention of Wheel, Electricity, Vaccination and Aeroplane. We felt that kids may have definitely come across these types of inventions in their daily life and hence decided to further develop this project.
Plot & Design
The plot developed centered around a school kid and a theme that was scientific. I decided to opt for Harry, a young kid as the player, that was as clueless and at the same time, as educated as a school kid.
From the research done, the four inventions that were selected were placed in a museum in the game, which the kids would visit. To go back in time in the game, a narrator in the form of a professor was created, which not only provided the time modular unit, but also gave out hints to help the player.
An enemy was also developed in the form of another school kid, who disliked Harry and was extremely naughty. He somehow goes back in time using another unit and ruins the inventions, hence the call for the adventure for Harry begins.

1: Field Trip to museum

2: Kids exploring

3: Kid ruining inventions

4: Harry on his adventure
Three worlds were created, that covered the first three inventions selected - Wheel, Electricity, and Measles Vaccine. Levels were customized accordingly, and simple interactions were then created. It was kept in mind that kids do face difficulty in understanding difficult mechanics, hence feedback was provided at each step. Mini-games were also created, since after assembling the invention in AR, the players could play out their created inventions.
This project required simple quests to be created, glimpses of which are provided below and in the GDD attached.

Playtesting & Changes
Once we finished our production, and then headed to a local school to test out our product. This lead to interesting results since we got to solve quite a lot of issues.
